Transitioning Babies to Solid Foods: A Comprehensive Guide for Lactation Consultants

This class is intended for babies following neurotypical development

This presentation given by speech pathologist and IBCLC Jill Rabin will provide IBCLCs with up-to-date information on how to educate their clients on how and when to transition their babies to solids.

Information such as what age babies should begin solids, how to determine when babies are ready to begin solids and why rice cereal is not being recommended as a first food will be covered.  The importance of introducing food allergens early and often and how baby-led weaning can be beneficial will also be addressed. Red flags for possible difficulty in transitioning to solids and ways IBCLCs can refer these babies for assistance will be discussed.
